Prince George Fire Centre battling 18 new fires

All of the fires are in the southern and western areas of the fire centre, with the largest being located approximately 60 kilometres southwest of Vanderhoof. Currently, an attack crew along with a helicopter are battling the blaze.

Minimal amounts of rain went along with the lightning in some areas, however the fire danger rating remains at high to extreme in the southern areas of the fire centre.

As of noon today, a ban will be in effect for open burning and fireworks in the south and west areas of the fire centre, however campfires are still allowed in all areas.
