Northern Lights College offering rock climbing course this weekend

NLC says the goal of the course is “to provide hands-on instruction and practice in the fundamental core climbing skills for the beginning or aspiring rock climber.” Students will be given the foundation of rock climbing, along with an understanding of the greater world of the sport, including how to properly use equipment, assess the environment and potential dangers, as well as ethics and the grading system.

The course costs $650 which includes ropes, equipment and two meals, however students must bring their own climbing shoes. It will take place over three days, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 16 and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, August 17, at the Fort St. John campus, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 18 at the climbing site west of Chetwynd.
