Local hockey player signed to WHL’s Victoria Royals

Jarratt was the Royals’ second pick of the second round of the 2013 WHL’s bantam draft, and was taken 37th overall.

“Ralph was the first defenceman we chose in this year’s draft,” says Royals’ General Manager Cameron Hope. “In camp, he exceeded our expectations at both ends of the ice and we are excited to have Ralph in Royals’ colours for the years to come.”

The 6’1”, 170 lb d-man spent the last hockey season playing in the Pursuit of Excellence Bantam AAA program, a hockey academy in Kelowna. During his time there, he racked up 29 points, including three goals, and 66 penalty minutes in 28 games.

Jarratt was named a Second Team All-Star by Western Elite Hockey Prospects earlier this year, and previously led FortSt. John peewee team to win a provincial championship in 2011 as captain.
