Local drivers happy to return home for 2013 Northern Nationals

Romak is taking part in his fourth season with the CMDRA, and has a number of accomplishments on his resume of racing.

“In my previous three seasons with practising, and racing out of Fort St. John, I’ve been able to accomplish a fifth overall in street, a third overall in street, and a second overall in street in three years,” he says. “My big, proud accomplishment is I’m the current Hot Harley champion. In the past I’ve had a second overall, and two championships, and I’m the current, and defending champion of this track when they ran in ’08.”

Romak says that track officials have done great work with the track, and is one of the reasons the CMDRA returned to Fort St. John.

“The local track has done a tremendous job on upgrading our track,” he explains. “It is now a premier track, and is one of the fastest in all of Canada. Our local Pro Mod Racer, Burke Forster, here, just a regular, local car race, Burke came out for a fun test and tune and ran a 6.94, a personal best by two tenths of a second, and that’s unheard of, and that’s because of track conditions.

Speaking of Forster, he says it was great to be back racing in front of the home town fans, and loved ones.

“It’s nice to race on a home track, there’s no travel, friends and family can come watch, it’s always nice.” Forster says.

Like Romak, Forster is no stranger to success on the track, with three wins on the current season.

“This year we’ve been doing pretty good,” he admits. “We won one Ashcroft race, and we won the Fuel Shootout twice this year, so we’ve come away with three wins in three races”
