Firefighters honoured for long service to Fort St. John

Donszelmann, or “The Crusher”, joined the department as a Fourth Class Firefighter in July 2008, and has worked his way up the ranks to be a First Class Firefighter, as well as a mentor to others through his work as a counsellor at the B.C. Professional Firefighters Association Burn Camp.

Winn, or “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner”, also started as a Fourth Class Firefighter in July 2008, and is now a First Class Firefighter that fills in an Acting Captain when called upon, and assists with Fire Prevention Week.

Lastly, Anthony Santucci began as a volunteer firefighter in May 1983, and earned a Governor General of Canada’s Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal for his 20 years of service to public in 2003.

“Thirty years of service to an organization as a full time employee is exemplary, but thirty years as an auxiliary or volunteer shows even more dedication and commitment,” read Mayor Lori Ackerman.

They were surrounded by their colleagues at the ceremony.
