Even though only nine parcels were purchased, they covered nearly 6,700 hectares and the average price per hectare was more than $3,000.

That left the tender bonus total at $20.5 million more than double the totals in each of the previous two months.

It also pushed the unofficial year-to-date total to $154.8 million, and that’s more than %15 million ahead of the full 12-month calendar year total last year of only $139.2 million.

The next monthly sale will be held on September 18, and since it is one of four still to be conducted, there remains a solid chance the 2013 total will also top the $222.6 million of 2011.
