Upgrades underway at North Peace Regional Airport

The North Peace Airport Society has said an assessment has shown that approximately $23 million in capital improvements are needed over the next ten years to meet the growing demands of the airport.

Improvements to the airport are being paid for by the user, and not the taxpayer as the airport instituted an improvement fee to those flying out of the airport to help cover the costs.

LB Chapman Construction Ltd. is an earthworks contractor for site infrastructure and was awarded the tender for the water and sewer system, while the parking tender was given to Interoute-DGS Astro Paving.

Those using the airport are recommended to give themselves extra time as they arrive as crews will be at work. Parking has also been moved to accommodate the work being done.

Other projects to be completed in the future include the expansion of the terminal, equipment replacement, and runway resurfacing.
