Shots fired at hotel rooms in Northwoods Inn Sunday night

Spent bullet casings were also found in the hotel’s hallway. One of the hotel rooms was empty at the time, and the sole occupant of the other was injured.

Although the occurrences of shots being fired in town recently are incredibly high, Corporal Jodi Shelkie maintains there is a low risk to public safety.

“At this time, Fort St. John RCMP is dedicating all available resources to investigate the incidents of weapons being discharged,” she says. “We believe the risk to the general public is minimal as the shots appear to be targeted.”

The investigation into this incident by the General Investigation Section, Forensic Identification Section and General Duty members of the Fort St. John RCMP continues, along with the two reports of shots fired at the apartment building on 104 Street and 99 Avenue. Shots were reportedly fired just before 4 a.m. Sunday morning, as well as around 4 a.m. on Monday, July 15.

Police have not indicated if the three incidents are being considered as related.
