Permit for new Holiday Inn boosts June Fort St. John building numbers

That’s more than three times the value for the same month last year, and it put the six month total this year at $43.6 million. That’s about $10 million more than for the first half of last year, and represents a major improvement over the five month running total comparison through May. At that time the 2013 total was about $2 million less than the total for the same period in 2012.

On a year-over-year basis, the city revenue story is essentially the same as the construction value story. At $132,900, it was running about $10,000 less than last year by the end of May. However, through June it was up to $219,000, and about $50,000 ahead of the six month total in 2012.

The total number of permits issued last month was up slightly from last June to 41 from 39, but the six month total of 132 this year is 21 fewer than the number issued for the same period last year.
