No councillors running to fill position of Dawson Creek mayor

Therefore, the playing field is wide open for any other Dawson Creek residents interested in helping run the city.

Nomination forms are now available at City Hall, and will be accepted as of July 30 for a period of 10 days. If more than one person throws their name in the hat, a byelection will be held on September 14, 2013. If not, the only candidate will be acclaimed.

Voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Encana Events Centre, and advance polls will be available on September 4 and 11 at City Hall. In the meantime, councillors will continue with their acting mayor rotation.

No one ran against Bernier for mayor in the 2011 municipal election.
