Daycare in Marquis Centre looking at relocating after shootings

In a letter dated today, the North Peace Out of School Child Care Society’s board of directors writes, “Safety for the children attending the daycare, as well as staff, is our primary concern, and we are currently looking into our options regarding our location, both immediately and for the long term.”

It notes its long term plan is to relocate, but efforts are hampered by the search for a new, suitable location, and the need to give notice at its current one. With safety the daycare’s greatest concern, input from parents on finding a new location is being welcomed.

At this point, Fort St. John RCMP maintains there is a minimal risk to the public from these crimes, as they believe they are targeted attacks, and related to the local drug trade.
