Unemployment rate increases to 2010 levels

In April the unemployment rate was 5.2 per cent. In May 36,900 people were working compared to 38,400 in April.  Last May the rate was 3.9 per cent with 39,500 people working.

The region in B.C. with the lowest unemployment is Prince George with a rate of 4.5 per cent.  Vernon has the highest unemployment in the Province.

Across the province, the unemployment rate remained steady at 6.8 per cent, while the national rate dropped to 7.1 per cent.
