Trial for Fort St. John woman accused of burning dogs begins today

She was arrested on July 7, 2012, after the burnt remains of a dog were found at an Alberta campsite.

Initial police reports suggested the woman was likely intoxicated and angry following an argument with a partner, who had left the site before investigating officers arrived. Once there, police found the remains of a kennel and a small dog in the fire pit near a trailer the accused woman was occupying.

They also concluded from witness accounts that a second dog suffered serious enough injuries that it too did not likely survive.
