Samudosky wins Chetwynd International Chainsaw Carving Championship

The carver from Connecticut jumped to first place after coming in third last year, with his piece named “Guan Gong”, which was also named Carver’s Choice. Thomas Vrba from Slovakia shared the Carver’s Choice award with Samudosky, for his “crucifix”.

Samudosky knocked off Oregon’s Chris Foltz, who had won the competition for the past two years. Foltz came second this year with his carving of a scarecrow, and also earned the People’s Choice Award.

In third place came Ontario’s Paul Frenette for his masterpiece titled “PAN”.
