Run for Recovery raises $20,000 so far

She’s been averaging 33 kilometres a day, having left Fort St. John on Saturday, June 15 for the over 357 kilometre journey. Those distances likely sound daunting, but Northern Lights Recovery Centre Society Chair Bruce Lantz says Brown does it all while smiling.

“Even when she’s nearing the end of her run, she’s still got a smile on her face in the sweltering heat. I don’t know how she does it,” he says, adding, 3:18 “What’s really heartening is the people that are coming out to support her, some running along with her, cars and trucks honking as they go by her.”

So far, the run has raised approximately $20,000 for the rehab facility that is being built near the Energetic City. At the rate she’s going, it’s possible Brown may be back in Fort St. John by June 27, even with the added detour around road work on the Kiskatinaw Bridge. A celebration will be held for her return.
