Pat Pimm sworn in as Agriculture Minister

The Ministry of Agriculture is responsible for the development of agriculture, aquaculture and the food industry, animal health and crop protection, as well as food safety, and quality. It’s also responsible for commercial and marine fisheries, fish processing, developing the seafood industry. The Ministry oversees both the Agricultural Land Commission and the B.C. Farm Industry Review Board, and takes care of the licensing, inspection and standards for slaughter facilities.

As Minister, Pimm will work to make sure British Columbians buy local agri-food products from the province, and work to ensure B.C. takes advantage of market opportunities in Asia. He will also be tasked with creating new opportunities to market B.C. wine in other provinces across Canada. 

Pimm has previously served as Parliamentary Secretary for the Northeast and has served as chair of the Northern Caucus and two Select Standing Committees, including Aboriginal Affairs and Finance and Government Services, as well as served as a member of Treasury Board.
