Oil and gas industry roads now under single regulatory framework

Starting June 3, 2013, permits will be required for the construction and maintenance of all oil and gas roads, although there are a few exceptions for the maintenance of older roads. They will also be managed with an increased focus on environmental and safety.

Previously, roads could be approved through a number of different legislation.

The OGRR will be in place until the Natural Resource Road Act that is currently being developed is in effect.
