No suspects in cow shootings north of Fort St. John

One farmer reported just before 4 p.m. on the 23rd that one of his cows had been shot and killed, and an hour later another farmer nearby called police to say he had found three of his cows killed and another eight wounded. One of those cows was pregnant, and has since had to be put down.

“This is a tragic event on many different levels,” says Corporal Jodi Shelkie. “These cows have a value to their owners. As well, three of the cows had calves that now have to be nursed by a surrogate cow and it is not certain if they will survive. The senseless death and wounding of any animal is disturbing.”

At this point there is no suspect in the shootings, as neither farmer was in the vicinity at the time. Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP at 250-787-7100 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
