Sonja Profittlich is the Program and Events Coordinator with the District of Taylor. She says the event was inspired by a TV show that followed people as they made lifestyle improvements through exercise.
“The hill climb is a legacy of the famous Village on a Diet show,” she says. “It was established as an annual event after that.”
To add some extra fun for this year, participants are being encouraged to dress in costumes for the event.
“Everybody is invited to bring costumes, or funny hats. We also purchased lots of funny things too, so people can come even if they don’t have anything and borrow something,” says Profittlich.
The event gets underway behind Taylor Elementary School at the bottom of the hill at 4 p.m. so people should arrive around 3:30. Every year, anywhere from 60-100 take part in the climb. Aside from the journey up the hill, there will be games and activities for people of all mobility and fitness levels. There will also be a complementary barbecue after the event.
With the weather expected to be sunny and hot tomorrow, there will be extra water on hand at the site as well.
