Lighting sparks several new fires near Fort Nelson

The Prince George Fire Centre says none are currently threatening any structures and infrastructure.

A unit crew and eight initial attack crews are currently battling the blazes, along with three helicopters. They will be joined by three additional unit crews over the next day. Air tankers were also helping Sunday, and may be used again.

The area northeast of Fort Nelson has an extreme fire danger rating, while the rest of the Prince George Fire Centre has a moderate to high risk.
