Sawyer and his squad have been busy with preparations for the tournament. He says he feels good with where the team is at heading into the weekend.
“Team preparations have been going well; we’ve been getting great turnouts at practices in Grande Prairie,” he says. “Even a few of the FortSt John guys have come to help us prepare. The last tournament we got second place, so were looking to bump that up by one spot and take gold this time.”
The first place team from the last tournament will be in Edmonton once again. Sawyer says if they cross paths again, the team will go after them with a different approach than the last time they played.
“They play a completely different style of ball than we do,” he explains. “We’re very much in your face and the aggressors, whereas they sit back and shoot more off the start. We’re going to have to sit back a little and try to play a little more slow, methodical paintball rather than just rush into their guns.”
The third event of the season runs June 22 and 23.
