Fort Nelson water safe to drink despite musty taste, smell

“This unpleasant taste and odour may make you think that the water is ‘off’ and not safe to drink,” it writes in a release. “Be assured during these seasonal events, your water is safe to drink and is not a threat to public health.”

The water is reportedly tested regularly.

Residents can try and get rid of the smell and taste by using a carbon filtration system, or by storing a jug of water in the fridge with ice cubes or lemon juice.

Unfortunately, there’s no timeline on when the water will change back, as it is solely dependent on weather conditions.
