Caravan Motel fire deemed suspicious

The fire was out within an hour, but Deputy Fire Chief Curtis Redpath says its cause is still undetermined.

“We’re not sure how the fire actually started, so for us it’s kind of suspicious,” he says. “We don’t have any other ideas or clues.”

The case was passed on to police, who have also taken the position that the blaze was suspicious, but subsequent investigation hasn’t revealed any suspects so far.

“We do believe it is suspicious,” says Corporal Jodi Shelkie, adding, “We have no suspects at this time.”

The fire is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the detachment at 250-787-8140.
