BG Group, Imperial Oil apply for LNG export licences

“These applications, if approved by the National Energy Board, show that we are on the verge of new economic opportunities with LNG,” said Rich Coleman, Minister of Natural Gas Development. “The development of our LNG sector is part of our long-term plan for a debt-free B.C.”

BG Group’s application is to export 21.6 million metric tonnes of LNG annually from its Prince Rupert LNG export facility, while Imperial Oil/ ExxonMobil continues to assess properties to export 30 million annually.

So far the NEB has issued export licences to LNG Canada, Kitimat LNG and Douglas Channel LNG.
