Property Manager Rob Schlitt says the store is slated to open in spring 2014, attached to Staples but with its own entrance. It joins two new stores hitting the mall soon, including a kitchen and bath accessory store coming this month and a pet food and supplies store opening by the fall.

At the same time, the mall will also be venturing into a parking lot renewal project, aimed at fixing all the problems Schlitt says “FortSt. John is more than aware of.”

“It’ll be a replacement of the drainage system, which we know has been giving us trouble,” he explains. “We will be putting a storage centre in the area in the event of a big rain like what we experienced in 2010 so that we can control the water flow going in and out of the lots so we don’t get those types of problems anymore.”

That work should be completed by the end of this fall, including repaving and landscaping.

The Totem Mall asks that mall goers during all this construction be patient with the disruptions that will occur.
