Western Financial employees walking to Support the Cause

Donned in bright red t-shirts, the first group of employees left the office on 100 Avenue at 10 a.m., and will be joined by the other three branches as the complete the five kilometre loop.

Mariette Dechaine, a Commercial Account Executive, explains that locally, the money raised will be going towards putting defibrillators in public places in the community, as well as scholarships and bursaries for high school students.

“Western Financial Group has always been about community,” she argues. “Most of our offices are in smaller communities. We want to support the community instead of branching out into big cities. We want to keep things local.”

Company-wide the goal is to surpass last year’s nearly $90,000 raised. Locally, the Fort St. John branches have already raised close to $4,000.
