Round-up your tires for Tire Stewardship BC this Saturday

The round-up will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Kal Tire on the West Bypass Road. The tires you turn in will be recycled and used for future projects.

Rosemary Sutton is the Operations Manager for T.S.B.C. She says there are a number of reasons why it is important to take part in this opportunity.

“It’s important because otherwise tires are sitting in the environment, the back yard, or someone’s deck possibly. If you bring them in for recycling they will get recycled into great products like coloured landscaping mulch,” she says. “In fact, in Fort St. John at Kin Park, there is an outdoor fitness gym, and the tiles there on that gym received a grant from us and they are made from old tires.”

The barbecue portion of the event has been cancelled, however T.S.B.C. will be on hand providing information on their community grant program, which provides matching funds for schools and organizations that use B.C. recycled rubber in a project.
