Hike for Hospice fundraiser this Sunday

Individuals, families and teams are taking pledges to walk and raise money for the cause. Pat Albrecht is with the organization. She explains the money helps fund the society’s operations.

“It is used for training, it’s used to put books and videos in our library,” she says. “We try to go to a conference once a year so we stay current. It’s general funds for us to use.”

Volunteers at the Palliative Care Centre in Fort St. John provide companionship to people with terminal illnesses at home or in the hospital, and support for those living in poor health. They provide a break for family members sitting by their side, all for free. The Palliative Care office also has a library full of information on stress, caregiving, loss, dying, death and grief.

Pledges will be collected throughout the event and turned in at its conclusion.
