The residential tax rate increases to 5.2261 from 5.2128 for 2012, while the light industrial rate moves up to 26.4928 from 26.4251. The business tax rate goes up from 14.6661 in 2012 to 14.7037 in 2013, while recreation increases to 11.0151 from 10.9870. Lastly, the farm rate rises from 14.3497 to 14.3865. Utilities remain unchanged at 40.00.
This increase comes after most Fort St. John property owners saw a raise on their 2013 assessment notice. The Peace River assessment roll increased by approximately $1.75 billion, with most home owners seeing an increase of zero to 15 per cent. In Fort St. John the average assessed value for a single family residential property increased by 6.9 per cent over 2012.
The tax rates from the Peace River Regional District decreased by .4 per cent, and hospital rate increased .1 per cent.
Now that the bylaw has been adopted, tax bills will be generated and sent out. Property taxes are due July 2, 2013.
