3.2 per cent of eligible Peace River North voters cast advance ballot Wednesday

The number of advance voters has tripled since 1996 and in the last B.C. election in 2009, 17.5 per cent of all eligible voters cast a ballot before election day.

Locally, 784 of the 24,854 eligible voters in Peace River North went to the polls on Wednesday, or 3.2 per cent. That’s up from 588 of the 22,577, or 2.6 per cent, in 2009.

In Peace River South, where the eligibility total is 18,066, the turnout Wednesday was 538, or 3 per cent. That’s also up from last election when 443 of the 16,971 eligible voted, or 2.6 per cent.

The advance polls are again open tonight until 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. In Peace River North you can vote at the following locations. :

  • Northern Rockies Recreation Centre, 5500 Alaska Highway, Fort Nelson
  • Pearkes Centre, 10801Dudley Drive, Hudson’s Hope
  • Pomeroy Sport Centre, 9324 96 Street, FortSt. John
  • Taylor Community Hall, 9896 West Cherry Avenue, Taylor
