This first event this week is “Woofstock” at Burgers and Brews on Friday, May 24. The fundraising event will feature music by Ryan Hennessy, Craig Brooks, and Mike Strandberg, with a burger, beer and side dish included in the $25 ticket. Tickets are available at Investors Group, the North Peace SPCA or at the door.

Then this weekend is the fourth annual Doggy Day Spa fundraiser, taking place at Oculus Transport on 72 Street. Canine lovers in the Energetic City can bring their pooches to get pampered for the day, all for a donation to the SPCA. The minimum donation is $20 for a bath and blow dry, plus $5 extra each for a nail trim, anal gland expression or an ear clean. To reserve your spot, send an email with your name, your dog’s name, breed and size, and your phone number to, and your drop off time will be confirmed.

Lastly, the SPCA will be holding a barbecue at the Fort St. John Visitors Information Centre on the last day of the challenge May 31.

As of half way through the month, the South Peace branch was closing the gap on the North Peace branch.
