12 year old girl dies after Jeep driven by 11 year old crashes near Mackenzie

Investigation revealed that the 11 year old girl was driving the Jeep, while allegedly under the supervision of the 41 year old man,  when she lost control and it overturned.

All the victims were from the Mackenzie area, and the road was closed for approximately 10 hours as a result of the crash and subsequent scene examination. Sergeant Sydney Lecky says the crash has left the community in mourning.

“The impact on the community and in our elementary and high schools has been significant,” she says in a release. “Investigators and RCMP Victim Assistance workers continue to work with the community in providing support to the affected families.”

To date there’s no word on charges.
