12 CN Rail cars derailed near Chetwynd

Eight ended up on their side while four stayed upright. CN representative Emily Hamer says some granular product spilled on the ground, but it has since been cleaned up and removed.

“Operations on the mainland have been temporarily suspended while crews work to safely clear the tracks, and that should be complete later today,” says Hamer.

Hamer adds the railway company is in contact with customers affected.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
