Two Dawson Creek males charged with extortion

During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the victims had drug debts, and were threatened with violence if they did not participate in property crime offences. Those included robberies, break and enters, and thefts throughout the region.

Jordan Hambler and Darrin Mickey are facing charges of extortion, and more charges are pending as police are still investigating more complaints. Both men have extensive records and remain in custody.

Constable Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer encourages anyone with further information to call the Dawson Creek RCMP at 250-784-3700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-80-222-TIPS.

“The Dawson Creek RCMP has made a number of arrests in the past two months which have significantly reduced property crime in the community,” she says. “Information provided by the community is a key factor in locating and identifying the individuals responsible.”
