Clayton Bahm responded just 2 minutes later to tie the game, and the Flyers would add in one more in each frame as Todd Alexander and Tyler Brough scored respectively to make it 3-1 in the third period.
The Eagles would close to within one in the final stanza, however goalie Troy Hunt, as he has been all season, was stellar down the stretch as he locked down the fort, giving the Fort St. John Flyers the 3-2 victory, and the early lead in division one of the Allan Cup.
The Flyers, after surrendering 10 shots in the first period, played a very stout defensive game in the final 40 minutes, including allowing only 4 shots in the second period.
Fort St. John will now move onto to tomorrow’s tilt against the Clarenville Caribous at 3 PM, a game that can be heard live once again on Moose FM, with the pre-game show slated for 2:45. A win by the Flyers will see them take the division, and receive a bye into Friday’s semi-final.
