Kevin Shaw and Irvin Tang both clocked in with a time of 1:47:44, however Shaw was declared the winner in the photo finish. Rounding out the podium was George Gamble as he edged Dawit Feyissa for third, and rounding out the top five was Roger St. Jean.
Saturday was also the bike club’s 200 kilometre Signs of Spring Brevet, which is done as a group. Erick Snucins and Wim Wok registered a time of 10:06. The race took the riders from FortSt. John through Buick Creek, Prespatou and Montney, and then back. The riders encountered a snow storm during the race and visibility was near zero in various stages.
It’s a busy week ahead for the bike club with a number of events on the schedule. Tuesday the Baldonnel Duathlon gets underway at 7 p.m. and Wednesday has the club holding its annual general meeting and elections at Northern Lights College at 7 p.m.
To wrap up the week, the club has races on Thursday and Sunday. Thursday is the Baldonnel Time Trial at 7 p.m. while Sunday is the King of Spring road race which gets underway at 10 a.m.
