With the writ dropping on April 16, the B.C. Tories are running out of time, but they are hopeful to have a candidate selected by then. It’s unlikely a candidate nomination meeting will be held.

At this point, that person will be running against independent Arthur Hadland, MLA Pat Pimm for the Liberals and NDP-backed Judy Fox-McGuire.

The B.C. Green Party has elected not to run a candidate in the Peace River North riding this year, and has instead chosen to support Hadland. Executive Director Rebecca Helps explains that Green Party members in the region would not run against him as he shares similar concerns with the party and opposition to the proposed Site C dam. The party also endorse three other independent candidates, including Delta South MLA Vicki Huntington, Cariboo North MLA Bob Simpson and John van Dongen running as an independent in Abbotsford South.
