B.C. Hydro Spokesperson Bob Gammer, says the increase in budget comes as a result from working on a challenging project in a challenging environment, combined with difficult weather and ground conditions, which has caused delays in construction.
Despite financial changes, Gammer says the project should still be completed by its original deadline at the end of March, with no scheduling delays taking effect.
Changes are also being made to the material used on the ramp’s surface, but Gammer says that has nothing to do with the projected budget.
When the boat launch is completed, it will still be owned by the District of Taylor, but the costs of construction and maintenance will be borne by Hydro as part of its water licence requirements.
