The second round series has been the tale of the visiting team, as Thursday, February 28, the Huskies mushed out of Grande Prairie with a series opening 6-3 road win, taking a quick 1-0 round two lead back home.
However, balance was restored on Saturday, March 2, when the JDA Kings earned their first road win of the series, taking game two 3-1 at the North Peace Arena.
Leading the series in points so far is Huskies forward Robbie Sidhu, who enters game three with four points (1G, 3A) in two games, while also leading all players from both the JDA Kings and Huskies with 10 points (3G, 7A) this postseason.
Discipline will be a key factor in this important game three, as each team has scored at least once with the man advantage in both games. Throughout the two games played so far, Fort St. John has gone three-for-eight on the power-play, while Grande Prairie has gone two-for-eight.
The Huskies have also been firing more shots, as throughout the previous two games they out-shot the JDA Kings 73-60 over 120 minutes of hockey.
Following game two in Fort St. John, Huskies head coach Gary Alexander said he believes his boys can reclaim the series lead tonight.
"They’re the best team in the league so far this year and we’ve just out-shot them in two straight games. A 3-1 hockey game and we didn’t play that well, so I’m pretty confident we can bounce right back."
Tonight’s game three hits the ice at 8:30 p.m. and all the live action can be heard on 100.1 Moose FM. The broadcast begins at 8:15 with the Moose FM pre-game show.
