New rural building bylaw in effect

That includes work like demolishing a building, installing a plumbing system and building a deck higher than two feet off the ground. A permit is not needed when replacing windows, siding or roofing, building farm buildings or garden and tool sheds.

The PRRD argues this ensures “fair application of building code requirements” and “enhances confidence in the real estate market”.

Current construction that already has a building permit issued before March 18 is not affected.
