Game one hit the ice Saturday, when the Senior Flyers suffered their first loss since January 11, 5-2, snapping a six-game winning streak for the Fort St. John Senior Men’s club.
Sunday, the Flyers and Eagles took to the ice with Fort St. John looking to even the two-game exhibition series, but unfortunately, Innisfail had other plans. Despite Sunday producing a much closer game on the scoreboard, the Eagles emerged as weekend winners, sweeping the series with a 4-3 Sunday victory.
The weekend means absolutely nothing to the Senior Flyers' record, as it was simply used to sharpen their skills following a slight break from hockey for the upcoming Savage Cup.
The 2013 Savage Cup hits the North Peace Arena ice starting Thursday, March 21, when the Flyers begin the best-of-five series versus the Powell River Regals to determine B.C. senior hockey supremacy.
Fort St. John will be looking for some Savage Cup redemption, as last year the Regals swept our Senior Flyers in three games to win the Cup.
