Still no charges on anniversary of beating death at Hedley concert

RCMP investigation found that the fight between five Fort St. John residents may have been started over a spilled beer. RCMP Media Relations Officer Constable Lesley Smith previously said it was possible that's how things got started, and that the two victims tried to walk away from the incident. Instead, the two were assaulted by the three others, eventually moving into the washroom. The second victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The three suspects were later arrested in a drinking establishment, but charges have yet to be laid. Dawson Creek RCMP Staff Sergeant Milo Macdonald says the amount of time necessary for cases where an individual dies as a result of an altercation is significant, especially when there are a large number of witnesses. Video surveillance from the events centre is also being used.

However, no new information has been released, and no specific timeline has been set.
