Included is a comprehensive list of health services throughout the region, as well as contact information organized by community. The first edition of the guide was published back in 2009 after Margaret Little found herself compiling information and phone numbers when her husband’s mother was in the hospital.

“I thought, you know, other people could use this as well, so we made it our mission to create a health guide.”
The guide will be available in most health and community facilities throughout the region, starting with the Fort St. John Hospital, and the majority have already been delivered to other communities. As SONS President Jean Leahy believes, the addition of more local information is likely to be a big hit.
“We know from experience that the 2009 one was very popular, and because this one covers all of the Peace, it’s going to be even more popular.”
The guide will also be available online, including on the Peace River Regional District and Northern Health websites. The over $38,000 project was made possible largely in part due to a partnership with Northern Health, and the Seniors’ Access Society in Dawson Creek donating their $8,000 grant, along with several other partners.
