Fort St. John’s Glen Godberson was eliminated from contention in Friday’s quarter-final matchups, losing to Dawson Creek’s Mark Heartt by a score of 9-3. Godberson was then religated to the B division, where he and his team lost in the Semis to Ryan Konowalyk by a score of 9-4.
Dawson Creek’s other team, represented by Geff Ginter, also suffered a quarter-final loss, losing 11-3 to Sexsmith’s Graham Powell.
The hometown Heartt’s run was cut short in the semi-finals of the A division, as he and his team suffered a 7-6 loss to Kurt Balderston, who used the hammer to his advantage, and eventually went on to win the A division.
Sexsmith swept the weekend tournament, as Powell went on to win the B Division, defeating Peace River’s Ryan Konowalyk 6-4 to claim the second and final provincial championship berth.
The upcoming provincial tournament is set to take place in Leduc, from February 6 – 10.
