Senior Flyers tuning up in Alberta

With the team’s final game this Friday, February 1 against Spirit River and the Savage Cup not set to hit the ice until March 21, the Senior Flyers will play two games at the beginning of March, to ensure they are up to game speed when they take on Powell River.

The two day exhibition tournament will be a good test for the Senior Flyers, as they will be taking to the ice against a well coached Eagles squad, as the team’s head bench boss is former Bentley Generals head coach, Brian Sutter.

Sutter is a member of the illustrious Sutter Family, whose name is synonymous with the game of hockey, as multiple brothers within the family are involved in various levels of hockey.

Most recently, older brother Darryl Sutter coached the Los Angeles Kings to their franchise first Stanley Cup victory.

Currently, head coach Brian Sutter and his Eagles sit in third place in the Chinook Hockey League.

The team will be hosting the Alberta Senior A/AA Provincials, taking place in April.

The first game between the Eagles and Senior Flyers will hit the ice Saturday, March 9 at 8 p.m., followed by an afternoon game the next day, starting at 2 p.m.
