PRRD bylaw disputes to be handled at local level

This new system will be implemented for solid waste, zoning, building, noise, unsightly premises in Electoral Area C, manufactured home parks, special events and regional parks.

Regional Board Chair Karen Goodings argues this will make the process quicker, and will avoid taking up lengthy and expensive time in court.

"The board recognizes that the rural areas are growing and changing," she says. "This is an important step in managing those changes through an expanded bylaw process."

The Regional District can still decide to turn to the court system in  particularly "troublesome contraventions".
