Friday’s home game will be a challenging task for the Huskies, as they take to the ice with the dominant force that is the JDA Kings, who have yet to suffer a loss this season, entering the weekend with a perfect 12-0 record.

Leading the charge for Grande Prairie is forward Corey Wamskeeter, who, in only 12 games played, has already tallied an impressive 43 points (20 goals, 23 assists). Wamsteeker isn’t the only talented scorer the Huskies will have to focus on, as the JDA Kings’ top five point producers all have over 25 points.

Tonight’s game will also be the second meeting between the Huskies and the JDA Kings, who played once already this season back on October 12, when, despite leading 3-0 following the first, the Huskies allowed six unanswered goals in the second and third for a 6-3 loss.

Following Friday’s home game, the Huskies will mush to Fairview, for the fifth meeting this year between Fort St. John and the NWJHL’s newest club.

The Huskies are still searching for their first victory over the Fairview Flyers, who squared off in the pre-season in a home-and-home series, when the Huskies were swept by the Flyers. The two teams met again on October 25 and November 2, when Fort St. John suffered a 4-3 overtime loss and a 3-2 loss respectively.

When examining the league standings, it’s a significant four points on the line this weekend for Fort St. John, especially because the Huskies only trail Fairview by two points, and are three points behind the Sexsmith Vipers.
