Councillor Bruce Christensen receives Queen's Diamond Jubilee Award

"You don't do what you do to receive this," he said emotionally, "but it's an honour."

Zimmer read off his long list of contributions and accomplishments, which includes serving as past President of the Fort St. John Construction Association, Chair of the Northern B.C. Construction Association Board, President of the Fort St. John and District Chamber of Commerce, Director of the B.C. Chamber of Commerce, President of the Fort St. John Rotary Club, Director and Governor for Rotary International, Exalted Ruler of the Fort St. John Elks Lodge 288, and Chairman of the official board of St. Luke's United Church.

He has also served as a minor hockey coach and minor baseball coach, served meals to the less fortunate, and been involved with the Palliative Care Society.

As well, Christensen has worked tirelessly to eradicate Polio.
