The Pomeroy Sport Centre’s parking lot was packed this morning with teams and spectators watching as each team tried to pull the fire truck from point A to point B in the fastest time.

While bragging rights as the strongest team were on the line, so was raising money for the United Way in Northern B.C. Overall, participants raised $25,200.02 for the organization. Both the Shell teams from north and south of the Peace River raised the most money combined, at $14,449, not including the money raised by the children’s Shell team, who brought in over $800 themselves. The team from Progress Energy also raised a notable $7,700.

Spectra Energy took home the prize for Most Spirited Team. The day began with a pancake breakfast, and a golf cart pull for the children.
