In between, helicopters are also bucketing water, while crews fight from the ground. The fire was discovered on Friday, September 14, but has seen increased activity with faster winds.
Prince George Fire Centre Fire Information Officer Jillian Chimko explains that the area is currently under an extreme fire danger rating.
“Things are still so dry out there,” she explains. “Dead grass burns a lot better than live grass, so that plays a factor at this time of year.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
